Sophia Papadimitropoulou is an opera singer and performer born in Athens-Greece.
From a young age she attended piano & theoretical courses at the National Conservatory of Athens. She fulfilled her music studies in classical singing with the highest honors and first prize with the internationally renowned soprano Marina Krilovici at Conservatory “Synchrony Odi”. She also has a degree in superior music theory. She made her debut at G.Puccini’s “La Boheme” (Musetta), detaching dithyrambic reviews from critics and audience. She has collaborated with most Music Halls, theatres and orchestras in Greece. Also, she with the Greek Composers Union and many composers have dedicated to her their compositions which she was singing on a world premiere.
Her repertoire extends from Baroque to contemporary music emphasising to belcato music. She has attended several master classes with internationally accomplished opera singers such as Cheryl Studer, Dimitri Kavrako, Peter Svensson, Dimitri Platanias, Daphne Evangelatos, Dimitra Theodossiou, Christina Giannakopoulou etc..
From June 2014, she has a permanent cooperation with the world wide distinguished pianist Dimitris Yakas performing concerts in Greece and abroad. The year 2013 was one of the candidates in Opera Studio of the National Opera of Greece and in 2014 she was accepted and participated in the 38th International Singing Contest “Grand Prix Maria Callas”. She is a member of the organizing committee of the World Conference on “Symmetry in Science and the Arts” (ISSC Conference 2016). She has sung many times recitals dedicated to Greek Composers such as Hatzidakis, Theodorakis amongside with the classical repertoire which serves with devotion.
She is a permanent partner as vocal coach & voice therapist of the National Conservatory and since 2021, she is in charge of the Choir of Santorini (children choir & adult too).
Press releases and dithyrambic reviews for her performances are written in the press by distinguished music critics, such as Nickos Dontas, Yiannis Svolos and Iliana Dimadi. Simultaneously with her musical studies, she has been active with acting and aerial dancing. She has been a member of theatre workshops and theatre companies, having collaborated with important actors, directors and screenwriters. She is also graduated from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens department of classical Theology
